Getting Sponsors For Your Racing Program

There is no easy formula for getting sponsored for your racing program. I will try on this page to give you ideas and tips on how to get sponsored. But the biggest thing to remember is that they are not sponsoring your racing, you are advertising their comany and products!!

There are many different types of sponsors:

Sponsor Enjoys Racing: Some just enjoy racing and want to have a team to be theirs, so when they go to the track they can say that's my car out there. These sponsors are hard to find and rarely able to provide the funding for full sponsorship. Sometimes this type is a relative or employer and will provide more than you might expect.

Sponsors Parts, Oil and Tires: This type of sponsor may have products you need to race, such as auto parts store, tire store or related industry that has small amounts of funding they will give or more likely, will only give you parts, oil, tires or other things to use on your race car in trade for advertising. Any little bit helps.

Advertising Sponsor: This type of sponsor is looking for an advertising catch that they can use to their advantage. This type of sponsor could fund 1/3, 1/2 or all of your racing budget. But for this type of sponsorship you are going to have to give time to them in trade for $$ for your program. They will perhaps want to use your race car for a display and advertising at their location. You will have to work this sponsor and it will take you almost as much time each week for displays and such as you spend actually on the track.

Keeping your Sponsor: You should remember that regardless of the type of sponsor, once you have them you have to work to keep them. Send regular updates on your program, track results, team and car pictures that they can use to advertise with as well.

To advertise for someone you must have an advertising program or idea for them to use as a program. I have seen and found a few that might help. If you have seen or heard of other programs that work feel free to send them to us to let others know.
